We're about to order another few hundred dollars worth of plants from Bluestone because we've been very happy with the plants they've sent in the past, and their response when we once had a problem plant. When the order arrived on 5/16/20, the Amsonia was not included. I realize that this is a very challenging time for everybody, but 3 weeks with no reponse whatsoever to a report of a plant entirely missing from a paid order is beyond frustrating. The shade provides ⦠Today I received my shipment of Centaurea and these plants are very large and healthy. Live and learn. I'm new to this, but it was sure easy...great experience! My plants arrived by regular mail and left on my porch upside down,None of the plants were in their containers and were straggly tossed about the box amongst the scattered dirt. After reading so many positive reviews I really expected better.I wish they would use a better carrier than just regular postal mail. They got the same light, water, etc. Spent over $100. A photo was taken of the plants that had been in the box. After not hearing from them I emailed and was told week of May 11, I received one plant out of four, the other three being Hidcote lavender. I love this company. The plants arrive in very good condition, and any problems after that are probably my fault. I took a photo & google imaged it. Posted on June 9, 2020, updated June 19, 2020 Not many will do that. I ordered more plants for fall, and one of them ran out of stock. I hope that you will make an effort to restore my faith in your company by refunding the amount of my entire order. Posted on September 17, 2017, updated June 7, 2019 I planted them & they grew. Last summer I placed an advance order for Phlox Blue Paradise, to be shipped this month. For example, if I ordered a Daphne, would I get a plant 2 inches high or 12 inches? I always appreciate the vendors who are trying to find ways to reduce their use. Large number of vibrant 2.5-3” dark-pink, double flowers. Bluestone Perennials is a keeper. They should be ashamed of themselves for the money they charged. She asked for my telephone number. All in all, a great experience. The Annies plants are gorgeous right now. Posted on May 12, 2018, updated May 12, 2019 I hope to get my plants shortly. I decided to spend a couple of hours on the website to really examine the prices and compare Bluestone's offerings to other well known perennial/shrub nurseries. I notified the company & they did replace it in the fall. No response from the company
The other four bulbs were moldy and shriveled, but not rotted through. Get free shipping on qualified Full Shade Perennials or Buy Online Pick Up in Store today in the Outdoors Department. I have ordered from Bluestone Perennials for two years now and I am so impressed with the quality of the plants, their customer service, willingness to answer stupid questions from a new gardener, and their integrity to honor their unconditional guarantee. I emailed Bluestone (with the photo) on 5/18/20 to advise them that they had not sent one of the plants, and asked them what was going on. I ordered Beautiful Blends Tulip Twilight Sparkle, which was supposed to be six dark purple tulips and six pink tulips. Posted on April 29, 2015, updated May 30, 2015 Very happy with my purchase. Finally got through on June 4th to find out they were out of the lavender and it would then be shipped in the Fall. Good size, good value and healthy plants. It is a bummer because Bluestone has such a nice selection. I have benefited so much from these reviews in general and was excited looking forward to some great astilbe, dicentra, columbine and ferns from Bluestone. I have brand new landscape and have had the experience of buying many plants both in nurseries and online over the past year. I was searching for Amsonia hubrichtii. Keeps root disturbance to a minimum. I never did receive the confirmation. The second order is more recent, a number of perennials that I will be planting shortly in a new bed. I am ashamed for this company. Posted on June 19, 2020, updated June 19, 2020 I am very disappointed, and I would not recommend this company! Plants were extremely root-bound and at least one had mildew on the leaves, with the others very wilted. I purchased 33 plants and the quality is excellent. I also bought Rosie poise agastache. Then her computer froze. I understand that some people like to watch things grow, but you would get a flowering sized plant much faster with the larger pots, so not everything is negative about the price increases. For online shopping, there are have been a few standouts in quality of plants shipped. The coconut hull pots dry out too much in transit and the roots end up bare seriously damaging the plants and making a HUGE spilled soil mess when you open the box. Shade gardens with their predominance of lush and lazy greens have a natural physical and ethereal attractiveness. I wouldn't recommend them for the common plants you can easily find in your local nursery. What a great company! Below is the email I sent to Bluestone Perrenials. And if I planted with the coir pot I found it did not break down fast enough and the plant suffered in the ground. Posted on April 6, 2021, updated April 6, 2021 I'll admit I live in the same state as Bluestone, but I've received multiple orders the next day and by the health of the plants, they must have been packed immediately before shipping. I will discuss the tulips in a minute. What a joke. Posted on May 13, 2016, updated May 14, 2016 Posted on June 2, 2012, updated April 27, 2013 I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with an order I received last fall. Most of the plants took very well, though some havent been liking the soggy August weve had. This year I will report back what has survived the winter, and with more detailed notes of how plants arrive from the company. Posted on September 3, 2011, updated June 9, 2012 Purchased a large order this winter received them in time for planting. (unable to attach picture in this review)
Long-spurred blooms in wide color range flowers. Ordered 2 grasses. First order from them. Rich maroon color to chase away the winter doldrums. I expected the free bulbs to be a few crocus or something similar but they are huge 'Avalon' daffodils. In early spring we hired some help to build a new perennial bed in our garden, approximately 7 x 20. Clearly though it works great for growing the plants as effidenced by the two orders I received from them this year. It was small & didnt come back this year. I ordered some perennial plants this spring. I was tempted to give a neutral review under some sort of peer pressure mentality but my husband told me I have to be honest and so Im leaving a negative review. One of the dark purple tulips never opened. Low-maintenance perennial adds blue color and texture to the shade garden. I have ordered from this company for many years; it is hard for me to understand why they would steal...yes, steal my money! I could say "it's as if I just picked them up at the garden center" but the truth is, the quality of the plants is so consistently great, it's BETTER than any garden center.....it's not crowded and you have not only the information on their website but the power of the internet to research in the comfort of home.. To date, Bluestone has neglected to send or refund money due for non-shipment of remainder of my order. Our company, Tn Nursery, offers a wealth of shade plants and shade perennials. Posted on September 1, 2017, updated May 18, 2018 With its gray-green foliage and beautiful purple flowers, Russian Sage is one of my favorite full sun perennials. Trusting the reviews on here, I ordered 21 plants from Bluestone this year. Also, you can move plants to the "save for later" section of the website easily, unlike other company's websites. They also automatically combine your orders, which I think brings down the shipping costs. Posted on May 14, 2016, updated September 13, 2016 I sent an email with this info to Bluestone yesterday and asked for them to please advise. I really appreciate the wide selection, and the sale prices are lower than my local garden centers, although I shop there as well. I emailed again - no reply and tried calling several times (always after 1 pm), line was always busy. Yes, they do get some ... read more, How many times do I have to tell you...the box is mine! Perennials that thrive in full sun, considered 6 or more hours per day, provide long-lasting color to gardens or containers on your deck, patio ⦠I think this suggests a new buying strategy: instead of getting the old 3 packs, all you would really need is one big plant to fill the same amount of space. Another bonus - did anyone notice that the plants are hardened off when you receive them? Bluestone was running a free bulb promotion with an order so I got the free bulbs too. Posted on May 30, 2015, updated October 2, 2015 It remains to be seen if it will indeed open because the tulip bulbs I bought at the same time did not all open. Learn about the top 20 shade-loving plants, including Hosta, Heuchera, Dead Nettle, Tiarella, Astilbe, Foxglove, Ferns, Hydrangea and more. Often I do not plant my gems right away and they would dry out too fast in the coir pots for me. Broad hosta with bright white margins is a favorite of hummingbirds. I have always removed the plants from the coco pots as my soil is a heavy clay and I felt that the clay plus the coco would create an impenetrable barrier and the roots would never escape the pot and also that the coco might wick the water out of the soil in the summer when it dries out. Plus, they were, by far, the most professionally-packed flora I have ever received via delivery. But this one takes the cake - I ordered 3 rose campion plants. Posted on May 12, 2010, updated May 8, 2015 I have ordered bulbs and live plants from Bluestone Perennials in the past couple of years. I especially appreciate that they come in biodegradable pots -- I wish more suppliers would do this. The catalog is also informative. It arrived right on schedule, and was securely packed. On 5/28/20 I phoned them during what their voicemail message said was their current "telephone business hours" of 1-4 pm Eastern time.
The plants were not secured and most of the dirt was in the box. Also, I may try leaving the plants in the coco pots. I would have liked to have had the option to purchase one available now. I'm in Vermont and it seems that the plants arrive quickly. Not worth the price compared to the plants I got at the local nurseries which were far cheaper, a lot larger, much more vigorous and took off beautifully after they were planted. My husband looked at them and said: "I paid THAT much for a few strands of grass??" Posted on July 5, 2017, updated July 17, 2018 Posted on June 19, 2020, updated April 6, 2021 Its been a few weeks since I planted all 12, and nine are doing great. I paid $15.95 plus shipping for this plant - which is not cheap compared to what local nurseries charge for a new plant - and what I received is ridiculous for the price! While Bluestone charged $16.5 per plant versus the $11.50 from the other vendor, the plant I received from Bluestone was far in away superior. They are also very expensive and the shipping can be costly. I haven't dealt with Bluestone in a number of years....I do remember getting some nice grasses in small pots that all lived and 8-10 years later, are still flourishing! There are countless decent businesses available to the consumer. I planted everything last year and most everything survived until winter; some plants like the boltonia and the rudbekia grew like gangbusters, but some plants dried out (my fault) and many others never seemed to do much (again, probably my fault.) There are a few plants I had repeated trouble growing, but I wrote it off to my conditions. As you can see from the previous email last fall, one of the allium bulbs was completely rotten. However, I have decided to first post this review, mainly to let people know that it seems to be impossible to get a response from Bluestone if there is a problem with an order, but also as a last ditch effort to get SOME kind of a response. Bring back the old Bluestone! I watered the plants immediately upon arrival following the instructions that came with the plants and hoped for the best. Posted on May 6, 2018, updated April 21, 2020 On 6/5/20 I called Bluestone AGAIN, during their supposed phone hours, and was only able to leave another message at their "catalog desk." © 2021 W. Atlee Burpee & Co. All Rights Reserved. :). Its in full sun. The recycling program helps a lot with shipping costs, and is well worth it! Cascades from containers for a flowing look. This time I said that if I didn't hear from them in 3 days, I would file a dispute with my credit card for the cost of the merchandise (and sales tax) that was paid for but not received.
